Where do I shoot?

Please keep in mind that I do NOT work out of a studio. I specialize in outdoor photos in natural light. If she needs a photo for the yearbook with a studio background, I cannot provide that, but I can try to recreate somethign with a, all black or white background (just let me know). I can, however, provide some beautiful images at any outdoor (or indoor with adequate light) location you choose. May I make some suggestions? I have done shoots in the Creekside area in Gahanna, which is nice because it can supply us with both urban looking backdrops and the beautiful nature background that is also there. If you are into the nature theme, there are several parks in the area, as well as lovely scenic places in Central Ohio. If you are a senior and are big into sports, we can shoot from your High School fields/bleachers/etc. Or, of course, I can come to your home. I have had people invite me to their home for the photo shoot and we can do both indoors (near adequate natural light/picture windows, etc.) and outdoors in your yard or surrounding neighborhood.

What should I wear?

When planning your outfit(s) for the shoot, please keep it simple, timeless, classic. Try to steer away from logos, graphic tees, busy patterns, and trends such as neons as these can become outdated quickly and do not photograph well. For indoor shots, simple colors, and silhouettes work well with keeping portraits classic, but feel free to add fun accessories such as scarves, jewelry, hats, etc. The best way to figure out what to wear is to pick an outfit or two that is your "favorite" and swap out accessories, add a sweater or jacket, etc. Please dress appropriately for outdoor shots (sometimes a simple peacoat and a cute hat/scarf combo can be really striking). Please bring along any props that will help tell a story about your shoot that we can use in the photos...instruments, sports equipment, books, paintbrushes, baby blankets, christening bonnet, etc...but PLEASE do not bring all of them! Let me know if you have an idea that you think might work and we can discuss it. I will also bring a few small props to mix things up a bit...I have some magic up my sleeves!

Keep in mind too, that I am not a hairstylist or make up artist. Ladies, please have hair and makeup done at the time of the shoot and bring along extra hair things and touch up makeup. It is not necessary to go over board on the hair or makeup...Photoshop is our friend! If you do not normally wear any makeup, a little can go a long way (think simple: powder, blush, mascara, light eyeshadow, clear or light pink lipgloss, etc). If you do normally wear makeup, please keep it simple. Photoshop can cover a zit but its MUCH harder to match dark foundation to a pale neck or remove running mascara :).
